It’s a happy coincidence that Dragon is celebrating its 20th, as VoicePower Ltd has been established for over 20 years, so we were there at the birth of Dragon. I should say though that the technology has changed so much over that time. Long gone are the days when people say ‘I tried it and it wasn’t very good’; today, it is seen as a valuable asset to many organisations that want to save time, boost productivity, save money and even improve their customer care.
Tracking the dramatic improvements in speech recognition over 20 years
Of course, these days, we are increasingly exposed to speech being a viable input option to many devices. We take it for granted when we see people talking to their mobile phones, games consoles, in their cars and even their televisions. This increased exposure is making people more aware of the power of speech and is actually encouraging people to consider using it at the desktop, too.
